About Us
Our History
Established in 1900 as Hutchinson’s and located near Leeds University, Headrow Gallery holds the distinction of being Leeds’ oldest art and picture framing establishment. For over a century, we’ve proudly served families, collectors, businesses, and local authorities – offering a curated selection of paintings and prints.
About Maxwell
Leeds native Maxwell Roberts has led Headrow Gallery since 1988. His career in photography began in the late 1960s, training at Leeds Photographic College before joining his father, Sam, at J Roberts Photographers. Over the years, Max built a wide-ranging portfolio – photographing everyone from Members of Parliament to sports personalities and pop stars. This rich experience in the visual arts now informs his leadership of the gallery, where he continues to champion creativity, quality, and personal service.
